The Ice Hockey Association of the Netherlands has extended the contract with national coach Chris Eimers, who led the national team back to the Division I.

In 2015 the Netherlands had their worst finish ever losing its Division I Group B place and being ranked 28th overall. In 2016 the Orange Team wasn’t represented in the top-three tiers for the first time in history but managed its way back by winning the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A in Jaca, Spain.

For Eimers it will be the fourth season at the helm of the Dutch national team. He will also continue with his club duties at HYS The Hague.

The Netherlands will play Japan, Great Britain, Lithuania, Croatia and Estonia in the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group B in Belfast.
